Memories Rush Back - Post By: Karl Meyersick

In reading "the Toads" Fabulous Flashbacks the memories rush back, images I have not felt in fifty years.
Who can remenber Cotton's trick of getting your hand in a pain grip just to see what you would do?. He made the mistake of grabbing mine when my dad and I were standing on the back porch of the Commissary one afternoon. Now my dad was good at teaching me to be tough, so I was not about to let him or Cotton know much it hurt. Cotton couldn't believe it, not so much as a wince. Others were not so lucky!
I can remenber the last campfire of the 66 season, one of the commissary staff had been playing with flash powder that summer and decided he would "rig" the campfire to instantly light as we all watched in wonder. I was the "Chief" that night, and as I lead the long row of Scouts up the trail at dusk, I saw a huge cloud of smoke and twigs erupt above the trees, the image of a brightly burning feather head dress dress with me in it going over the cliff, still sticks firmly in my mind. Apparently wiser heads prevailed and the fire was lit before we arrived.
A scout for ever
Karl
